Online Bidding! From April 30th until 5pm on May 18th you will be able to begin your bidding online at www.calhounauction.org
No Paper Bid Sheets! The night of the Gala all Silent Auction bidding will be done via sleek interactive tablets and kiosks stationed around the room. Each table will have several easy to navigate tablets as well so you can bid from the comfort of your seat during dinner!
Our Three Auctions
Throughout the Gala there are three different types of auctions. The auctions provide guests with the opportunity to bid on amazing items or donate directly to our school. All Silent and Live auction items are donated by members and friends of the Calhoun community or by local businesses as a way of saying thank you for the support of the Calhoun community.
1. The Silent Auction: There are over 200 incredible items offered in the Silent Auction. They range from travel, impossible-to-get seats for sports games, cultural experiences, to jewelry, fine art, and concert tickets. This is also where the class artwork created by the Calhoun students in the 3’s – 5th grade will be available to bid on.
2. The Live Auction: A highlight of the evening is the always entertaining Live Auction, featuring an exceptional array of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, amazing getaways, unique dining opportunities, and much more!
3. The Special Appeal: Following the Live Auction is the Special Appeal or Paddle Raise. This auction provides an opportunity for every guest to make a direct donation to Calhoun to help support the school’s mission.
ONLINE AND INTERACTIVE BIDDING
Beginning on April 30th you (and anyone you know!) can explore and bid on the 200+ auction items that Calhoun has to offer. You can start placing your bids right away and you can also set a max bid and let the system do the bidding for you! On May 18th at 5pm, the online auction will be taken down and the bidding will reopen at 7pm at the American Museum of Natural History exclusively for Gala attendees on the bidding tablets.
At the event, tablets will be on all of the tables and throughout the silent auction area for you to place your bids. You will be able to set max bids on the tablets so that you can make the most of your night out on the town while still remaining an active bidder! New this year, all Gala attendees who are outbid will get a text to their phone letting them know it’s time to place a higher bid.
At AMNH you can watch the leaderboard screens for the new highest bid message to appear and let everyone know you are the new highest bidder (or, if you prefer, you can bid anonymously.) You can also check on the items you have bid on by selecting the MY BIDS button on the bidding tablet - this will show you what items you are currently the highest bidder on and which items you may have been outbid on.
