Benefit 2013:- Friday, March 1, 2013, 7pm-12:30am

Cipriani Wall Street
55 Wall Street, New York City
Red Hot Rhythm "Come Party to the Progressive Beat!" is the theme for this year’s Benefit, where we will celebrate Calhoun with Latin-inspired flavors, sounds and surroundings that will transport you to a bygone era of tropical sophistication and style. Join us in the land of rum, rumba and red-hot rhythm, where you will feel the heat and follow the beat of the Latin spirit.
Held each year, the Benefit is a wonderful yearly event when parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty/staff and friends come together to celebrate the school, the students and our entire community. The Benefit is also a vital element in Calhoun's fundraising efforts--helping to fund the school's annual operations, which are not covered by tuition alone.

PARTY DETAILS

Event Overview
The Benefit is a special evening where the Calhoun community comes together to celebrate the school! The night brings the chance to connect with new parents, socialize with familiar faces, and enjoy an adults-only night out filled with fun, laughter and surprises! The Benefit provides our community with a joyful night and raises vital funds to support our school and the amazing, enriching educational experience the students receive at Calhoun. Last year over 550 people attended the event, and we raised nearly $1 million for Calhoun.

The Theme
This year's Benefit theme is Fly Me To The Moon, An Evening of Gotham Glamour.  The theme represents a night of grownup sophistication and elegance. Our guests can get in the spirit of the night by channeling Frank Sinatra and the swanky supper clubs popular during the late 50's and early 60's. So think Jazz Clubs, Art Deco, Mad Men, shiny sparkly fabrics and classic supper club attire for fashion inspiration.  As the theme suggests, music from this time period was a key part of the inspiration for our theme and will play a prominent role in setting the tone at the Benefit.  It will be a fun-filled night and a really great way to celebrate our amazing school with the Calhoun community!

Highlights of the Night
Some of the highlights of the Calhoun Benefit include:
live jazz by Calhoun students (A Benefit first!), a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres, open bars, an amazing and expansive silent auction (including one-of-a-kind Lower School children's artwork by grade), a three-course dinner and a highly entertaining live auction! We will also premiere a video written, directed, and starring Calhoun students. This is all followed by a DJ, dancing and more!

NEW! $2,500 Ticket Incentive at The Mermaid Inn! All of those who purchase a $2,500 ticket to the Benefit or a $5,000 or higher Corporate Sponsorship will also be invited to a private event at the Mermaid Inn on the evening of April 11th. This incredible event will feature an oyster shucking station, caviar, lobster, langoustines, Alaskan king crab, an open bar, sparkling wines and specialty cocktails. It is going to be a night to remember!

NEW! No Paddle Raise! We are excited to announce that this year there will be no paddle raise following the Live Auction. Don't worry, you can still make a gift through underwriting the event (100% tax-deductible!) here and on the night of the event through your bidding tablet.

Online Bidding! From mid-February until the noon the day of the Benefit you will be able to preview the auction online AND start your bidding at www.calhounbenefit.org. This year you can also set max bids online that will carry over to the event and utilize the max bidding feature at the event.

New! Max Bidding! The night of the Benefit all silent auction bidding will be done via sleek interactive tablets and kiosks stationed around the room. Each table will have several easy to navigate tablets as well so you can bid from the comfort of your seat during dinner! This year you will be able to set your max bid at anytime throughout the night so that you can spend more time having fun and less time keeping an eye on your possible prize.
